Compare your BIM model and point cloud automatically

BIMAC checks your Revit model against the 3D site scan, colours every component by deviation, and sends the result straight back into Revit. What used to take hours now runs in a few clicks.

Built by Build Informed GmbH in Innsbruck, Austria.

in tolerance out of tolerance

Deviation colour-coded — green is within tolerance, red is beyond it.

What BIMAC does for you

From scan to colour-coded result — without manually matching model against cloud.

Fully automatic as-built comparison

Pick your STL model and E57 point cloud — subsampling, comparison and analysis run with no further input.

Deviation at a glance

Every component is coloured by deviation: within your tolerance (e.g. 2 cm) it’s green, beyond it yellow to red.

Straight back into Revit

The result comes back as a ReCap point cloud you can load and overlay directly in Revit.

Hours become minutes

No more manual model-vs-scan checking. BIMAC does in minutes what used to take half a day.

Proven engines under the hood

BIMAC drives CloudCompare and Autodesk ReCap Pro — established tools, fully orchestrated.

Runs locally

Windows desktop app, per-machine license, offline activation available. Your models and scans never leave the machine.

How it works

One continuous workflow — from point cloud to a checked model.

0:15
1 Step 1

Import the point cloud into Revit

Bring the site scan into Revit as a point cloud — the basis for the comparison that follows.

0:28
2 Step 2

Export the model as STL

From the 3D view, export the model as STL with metres as the unit. Tip: use a local coordinate system — Revit only exports STL in local coordinates.

1:34
3 Step 3

Run BIMAC

Select the STL model and E57 point cloud and start. BIMAC subsamples the cloud, compares it to the model and converts the result to ReCap format — all automatically.

0:40
4 Step 4

View the result in Revit

Load the result back into Revit as a point cloud — getting the insertion point right is key. Tip: make components transparent to see the whole cloud.

0:47
5 Step 5

Correct and recompute

Fix the flagged spots in the model, export to STL again and re-run the exact same workflow.

0:30
6 Step 6

Check the final result

After recomputing, every component sits within the 2 cm tolerance — coloured green. You can hide the result by deviation whenever you need to.

What happens under the hood

BIMAC isn’t yet another closed silo. Under the hood it uses CloudCompare — established open-source software from France — together with Autodesk ReCap Pro. Model and point cloud are compared and coloured by deviation; the result is written in ReCap format. The whole process is fully automatic and would take hours by hand.

  • CloudCompare handles the subsampling and the actual model-vs-cloud comparison.
  • Autodesk ReCap Pro converts the result into a Revit-ready point cloud.
  • BIMAC orchestrates both steps — you just pick the files.

Requirement: CloudCompare and Autodesk ReCap Pro must be installed on the machine.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an internet connection?

Not for the comparison itself — BIMAC runs locally. Only activation needs the internet once; for machines without a connection there’s offline activation.

Which file formats are supported?

As input, a BIM model in STL format (in metres, local coordinates) and a point cloud in E57 format. You get the result back as a ReCap point cloud for Revit.

Do I need CloudCompare and ReCap Pro?

Yes. BIMAC drives both under the hood. CloudCompare is free; Autodesk ReCap Pro is required to convert the result into the Revit format.

How does the license work?

A perpetual license covers one machine and is bound to it. 12 months of updates are included in the price.

How is the tolerance set?

You set the tolerance yourself. Components within tolerance (e.g. 2 cm) are shown in green, larger deviations in yellow to red.

Can I return the license?

As this is a digital product, your statutory right of withdrawal lapses once you download or activate it (§ 18 (1) no. 11 FAGG). If anything goes wrong, our support is happy to help.
